Dear burrito lovers,
Something awesome has happened in the Financial District that will make you scream for joy and rethink your current relationship with Chipotle. This new awesome thing is El Vez’s burrito bar. And it absolutely crushes the burrito game like how I plan to crush tequila shots this Cinco de Mayo.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo (which happens to be tomorrow #GoinUpOnATuesday) I decided to post about some of the unbelievably delicious dishes I tried at El Vez Burrito Bar. Before you read, please note that El Vez’s Burrito Bar is only open from 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the week. So it’s basically the perfect place for a Cinco de Mayo work lunch or any time during the week if you crave a fat, sexy burrito with fun ingredients. If you read that and just thought of Chipotle, you should reevaluate.
Please note: you can get all of these concoctions in the following formats:
- Rice bowl
- Lettuce bowl
- On tortilla chips
- In a flour tortilla
- ….or in a 3-cheese “Gangsta Wrap”
Now that we have established the endless possibilities of what you can do at the burrito bar, here’s what I consumed.
Korean BBQ beef, cilantro lime rice, refried pinto beans, pico de gallo, salsa roja, kimchi cabbage, grilled scallion, sour cream and romaine lettuce
SO MUCH FLAVOR. SO GOOD. Definitely the edgiest burrito on the menu.
Ground beef, cilantro lime rice, black beans, green chili queso, pico de gallo, salsa roja, corn chips, sour cream and pickled jalapeño
I decided to get this as a bowl instead of a burrito because it felt more pie-like.
They told me I could build my own....
Insane Frito “Nachos” #OnFleek (I titled this myself)
Tortilla chip base, cilantro lime rice, black beans, carnitas, grilled chicken, green chile “queso,” 3-cheese, guacamole, romaine lettuce, corn & poblano salad, charred pineapple salsa, crispy quinoa, corn chips, pico de gallo and sour cream
WOW writing that all out makes me hate myself but really excited at the same time. This is definitely a plate to share….
If you’re not super stuffed from eating all that, El Vez Burrito Bar also has some great soft serve ice cream options. While there are only two flavors (chocolate and horchata), the magic lies in *~the toppings~*.
I chose the horchata ice cream, which had an extremely creamy consistency and the perfect balance between the vanilla and cinnamon. Here are the two combos I tried.
